The Comedy Awards 2012: About the Board, Voting Body and The Fund

The Comedy Awards 2012 is the second annual blockbuster event dedicated to celebrating the art of comedy.

This historic, one-night-only celebration will honor the most talented writers, directors, actors and stand-ups, who provided the laugh track to our lives this past year: the pioneers who pushed boundaries; the TV shows that we rushed home for; the movies that are etched into our collective pop-culture memory; the stand-up comedians and the viral videos that make us laugh every day.

The Comedy Awards will take place on April 28, 2012 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The show will premiere on Comedy Central on Sunday, May 6, 2012.

The Comedy Awards are produced by Don Mischer Productions, the production team behind such legendary events as The Oscars, The Emmys, Super Bowl halftime shows, and Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. Don Mischer, Casey Patterson, EVP, Event Production, Viacom Entertainment Group and Charlie Haykel are the Executive Producers. Juliane Hare is Producer. Beth McCarthy Miller, the Peabody and DGA Award-Winning and Emmy® nominated Director, will once again direct The Comedy Awards.

Nominees are selected by the prestigious Comedy Awards Board of Directors. The 2012 Board includes: Adam McKay, Blair Kohan, Brad Grey, Budd Friedman, Carol Burnett, Caroline Hirsch, Chris Rock, Conan O'Brien, David Steinberg, Geof Wills, George Schlatter, Greg Cavic, Jamie Masada, James Dixon, Jay Roach, Jim Burrows, Jim Gosnell, Jimmy Miller, Joan Rivers, Jon Stewart, Lily Tomlin, Martin Lesak, Michael Rotenberg, Mitzi Shore, Peter Principato, Ray Romano, Rick Greenstein, Rory Rosengarten, Sandy Wernick, Sharon Jackson, Stephen Colbert and Steve Levine.
Winners will be selected by the Comedy Awards Voting Body, comprised of professionals from the comedy community including producers, writers, performers, directors and stand-ups. In addition, comedy fans from around the world will cast their votes in online-only categories here at The Comedy Awards
